Are You In?

If you want to build something big, begin by building something small.

Personally, I have always preferred cats over DOG.  One day, while completing my daily chores, I noticed some stray cats searching for food.  I built a small heated cat house and began to provide them food.

The cats came and went and rarely would stay in the cat house overnight.  I also noticed the first cat to arrive after I set out food would usually eat the lion's share, but then something changed.

Instead of eating the lion's share it seemed as if the cats began to cooperate with one another.  The early cats began to eat less and leave more for the cats that would arrive later.

If feral cats can work in concert with one another, then what better for man?

Hail the Queen, til Death do us part.

When I set out to begin recruiting survivors, posting in the message board worked at first, but we had much more work to go around.  I made the decision to set out and begin scouting other communities.  Most were dead but some still showed signs of life.

In my travels, I stumbled upon recruiting information for an alliance called Level Up and I decided to pay them a visit.  I sent ahead messages to their leader but received no response.  I also messaged the members of their alliance but still received no response.

What I did next was brash, but desperate times call for desperate measures and if the alliance is indeed dead, then who is there to offend?  I thought it wise to set fire to their Alliance HQ.  

It would take an Army to bring the entire building down; destruction wasn’t my goal, but surely someone must see the smoke from the fire…?

The HQ was rickety and run down, on the walls it read “Hail Queen Laynie.”  Just when I was convinced this alliance was also deserted, a wiley, skinny man who could not have weighed more than 124 pounds soaking wet came out of nowhere to defend that which he held dear.

“Whoa there friend, are you still alive?” I yelled out with caution.  But it was too late, the wild man had already launched an attack on my troops and some were injured.

“No harm done, what is your name friend?”  “HarHar”, he replied.  ‘Well, HarHar, I do not mean to offend you.  I sent many messages to your alliance leaders and with no response, are you still alive here?”  “The Queen is still alive, but we rarely hear or see from her anymore.  Yes, many have died and moved on.

“Well listen friend, we have an active community, we are supportive, we are competitive and we could use someone with your fighting skills.  It would be our blessing if you joined us… Are you in?

I had burnt the man’s home, and made a mockery of his alliance, nevertheless after looking upon the smoldering heap of broken dreams that was the Level Up Alliance, HarHar agreed to join Crystal Dawn.

“A man with no competition destroys himself.”

When I was alone and building my City:

🌄  I worked from sun up until sun down

🐂  I hunted and ate my fill

😔  But I still felt empty

Now with a community forming around me:

😏  I am more fulfilled than I was before

🐯  I eat less, but I still receive my fair share

😇  I have gained fellowship in my new company

Nevertheless, the days grow long and routines grow old and one must always think of new ways to keep the community engaged and motivated.

I thank God for bringing HarHar to our community when he did, it was perfect timing..

I found no issues with making a fool of myself before my alliance for entertainment, and HarHar seemed not to mind, in kind.  Our friendly competition in our training of our troops, and building of our city was entertaining to everyone and kept everyone motivated.

I appreciate HarHar for his ambition.  HarHar is always on the move and figuring out the next big thing.  His imagination worked faster than our alliance could build and I grew concerned we would be able to keep him engaged in the work at hand.

You must take the good with the bad and trust brighter times are ahead.

One evening HarHar and I ventured out from the Icefield to the Tundra land.  Along the way  we saw other alliances, some were worse off than we, and others were better off.  “Look at this alliance they have three facilities for their people, when will we capture a facility for our people?” HarHar asked. “Soon enough,” I answered, "We just need to train and prepare.”  “And look here…”  HarHar pointed out abandoned resource gathering buildings.  “These resource gathering buildings are better than the buildings we currently have access to, it would be inefficient to continue walking back and forth, we should move here!”  “Yes.”  I agreed.  “But it will take a great effort to coordinate all of our people to move, besides, in order to build into the Tundra we need to build Tundra Research Technology, we are still weeks away from this type of technology.”

“Then I am afraid this is where I must leave you my friend.  I appreciate you showing me an alternate reality than that I had in Level Up, but I cannot sit idly by and wait when there is still so much more out there to see.” HarHar said frankly.  “What will I tell the people?  They will feel they let you down.” I questioned.  “They are your people.”  HarHar responded coolly.  “People come, and people die.”  With that HarHar set off into the darkness of the wilderness. 

People come and people go so love the people who stay.  

We all have our own goals, and ambitions so simply wish everyone the best in their journey of Life.
